Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and singer. She started her Broadway career in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde, as well as Hair. For her role as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford is a veteran of her career collaborating with acclaimed directors and actors across theatre and on television. she is continuing her award-winning work with several upcoming projects. Ashford will be next seen alongside Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. It will also be available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will return in 2023, and will star alongside Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the return of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), exactly the same group that produced Hamilton, will direct the production. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis, which saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the first impeachment proceeding in America over an Century. Ashford was a part of two seasons in the CBS popular comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway credits. Her birthplace and childhood was in Denver Ashford now splits her days between Los Angeles and New York.
